Wabi Sabi Table

When I was very young, my father would take my family to the Camberwell Market. He would always end up bringing some new treasure back home to strip back, mend then place somewhere in our house.

My father has passed on, but he has influenced me in the home furnishing department. Take this old white table for example. On the outside it was nothing special. It was tired, worn and boring. However, underneath I saw something else. I saw beauty within the ugliness.

After a light sanding and an application of orange oil ( which I highly recommend, as it's non toxic and makes your home smell like fresh oranges for a few days!) the table was reborn, it was strange looking, it looked old but new, it had become a wabi sabi table.

And now, I am enjoying eating breakfast, lunch and dinner on my beautiful table.

Exactly what I like! There's something so special about a piece of furniture, scraped back and given a second or third life.
