Brunswick Street Art

I wonder who this artist is...? I see their work all over Brunswick. I love the distorted faces they create and the way they produce each piece...which is a mystery to me! Perhaps they use a brush...?

This artist has interesting work too. I like how they take a face and add to it, then give it a body too.

This is one of the many reasons why I like Melbourne.

A bit of Japan

I found a bit of Japan on the street where I live.

My time in Japan has really made me appreciate the seasons... and cherry blossoms too.

Smith Street Bazaar

I have managed to secure a space at Smith Street Bazaar!  I was there early this morning with my all things vintage knowing friend, Catherine. It was great to have her input on how to display the Japanese kokeshi dolls and Japanese medicine boxes.

As you can see, there are kokeshi of all shapes and sizes. All of them are antique and artisan made.

There are also woodblock prints and photos of old Japan. Please come by and take a look at these Japanese goodies.

Sour Dough Bread

I have some 'time off' work at the moment, so I've been doing everything that I shouldn't be doing rather than catching up on my patterning making and construction course.

So rather than doing what I should be doing (see above), I've been experimenting with making sour dough bread and I think I have finally perfected it! The starter took about a week to prepare, but now that I have it I don't need to go through that again.

The first loaf of sour dough was plain and had no salt, but it was still very delicious!

The second loaf, which I made today, was a fruit loaf. This time I added salt, brown sugar and heaps of dried fruit and sunflower seeds.

Once again, it turned out perfectly cooked! The finished product appeared as if it had been purchased from the local artisan bakery.

Lets' see if I can turn this bread making into a weekly thing!
