Swiss Brown Mushrooms

When I was a teenager, I attempted to grow mushrooms with a 'grow your own mushrooms' kit. I wasn't very successful. In fact, nothing grew.

When my friend Catherine, suggested buying a mushroom kit together, I declined. Thoughts of my failed mushroom kit entered my mind.

At a market weeks later, I saw a lady who was selling 'grow your own swiss brown mushrooms' kit. I spoke to her of my concerns and ten minutes later I was walking away with a mushroom growing kit.

Now I have so many mushrooms I don't know what to do with them!

Catherine spotted this amazing mannequin last week at the Camberwell market.

Perfect for the shop we hope to have in the future.

Street Art Tour

I wish the weather was nice today. Instead, it's drizzling with rain.

Which is too bad since I am going on a street art tour in a few hours around the streets and lane ways of Melbourne.

Miss Marple's Tearoom

Sweet Streets: Street Art Festival

There is an amazing street art festival by the name of Sweet Streets going on in Melbourne. The event runs from October 8 to October 24. Apart from street art, they are running tours  and workshops. Time permitting I hope to do a few of these myself. In particular the street art tour.

Beautiful Losers

Have you seen beautiful losers? You should.

I liked what Margaret Kilgullen said best;

"...because even though I do spend a lot of time trying to perfect my line work and my hand, my hand will always be imperfect because it's human. And I think it's the part that's off that's interesting, that even if I'm doing really big letters and I spend a lot of time going over the line and over the line and trying to make it straight, I'll never be able to make it straight. From a distance it might look straight, but when you get close up, you can always see the line waver. And I think that's where the beauty is"

What she spoke about reminded me of wabi sabi, and how we have be trained to dislike imperfection.

Hiking in Marysville
